Louisiana Coastline

Lake Chapeau is near Morgan City, Louisiana. This lake is located on the western half of Point au Fer Island. Canals and erosion have caused significant wetlands loss to the interior of the island. The project will restore marshes west of Lake Chapeau, reestablish the hydrologic separation of the Locust Bayou and Alligator Bayou watersheds, and reestablish natural drainage patterns of the Lake Chapeau area. The project has been submitted to this inventory by USEPA with the permission of NOAA. For more information about NOAA or their projects, you can visit this project at the NOAA Restoration Center
